For an offence of permitting premises to be used for smoking cannabis under s.8 Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 to be made out, actual smoking had to have taken place. The fact that permission had been given was insufficient.

The British Telecommunications Act 1981 did not confer upon the Post Office a civil right of action for infringement of exclusive privilege conferred upon it by s.66 of the Act.
