ADMISSION OF EXPERT DNA EVIDENCE

[2013] EWCA Crim 2 [2013] EWCA Crim 2

When considering expert DNA evidence, the fact that there was no statistical basis to provide a random match probability or that the expert was unable to give his evaluative opinion using a sliding scale of expressions did not make the evidence necessarily inadmissible. The court could admit such evaluative opinion where there was some other sufficiently reliable scientific basis for it to be given.
